About the UX Booth

The UX Booth is a publication by and for the user experience community. Our readership consists mostly of beginning-to-intermediate user experience and interaction designers, but anyone interested in making the web a better place to be is welcome. If you're interested, join us and discuss best practices and trending topics, or share your experiences.

User Experience

User Experience (UX) in the online community is the practice of influencing how a person uses and experiences a particular website.


The ease with which people can employ a particular tool or other human-made object in order to achieve a particular goal.

Interaction Design

Interaction Design (IxD) is the discipline of defining the behavior of products and systems that a user can interact with.

Who We Are

The UX Booth is a collective of authors and contributors. Founded by the members of the UX Panel, we have since grown into a sizable community that writes from a variety of perspectives.

Guest Authors

First and foremost, the UX Booth celebrates its guest authors. The best perspective on what makes a usable web is a novel perspective. Listed below are the guest authors that have contributed content to the UX Booth:

Editorial staff

  • Marli Mesibov

    Marli is a content strategist with a love of education and games. Her work spans game design, web applications, and mobile. Marli can also be found on Twitter, where she shares thoughts on UX Design, literature, and Muppets.

The UX Panel

The UX Booth is managed by two of its original founders: Andrew Maier and Matthew Kammerer.

  • Andrew Maier

    Andrew is a systems thinker who practices user-centered web and application design. He co-founded UX Booth in 2009 and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief. Along the way, Andrew has worked with both clients as well as consultancies heading user experience initiatives.

  • Matthew Kammerer

    Matthew Kammerer is a student studying Business. He has had a passion for the web since he heard his first dial up connection. He enjoys making things on the web easier to use. Outside of the world of user experience design, Matthew also enjoys sushi, coffee, and reptiles.

Not only is participating at UX Booth fun and educational, it changes lives. We're proud to say that as of October 2009, 3% of any profits that come from UX Booth will be donated to kiva, and subsequently loaned to community entrepreneurs in developing nations.
